Altmire Issues Statement on Keystone Pipeline

Statement

Date: March 22, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today issued the following statement on the announcement that a permit to construct a portion of the Keystone XL pipeline would be approved.

Congressman Altmire said:

"This project addresses three of the most important issues facing our country. Construction of the Keystone XL pipeline means thousands of jobs for Americans, puts us on a path toward lower fuel costs, and promotes U.S. energy independence and security. Families across western Pennsylvania are being hurt by the rising costs of fuel, and millions of Americans are looking for work. I welcome the approval of this portion of the project, and I look forward to working with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress to expedite the rest of the pipeline."

In January, following the rejection of the initial permit, Congressman Altmire called on the Administration to reconsider this project for approval.
